The Ducati Team season began at Palazzo Re Enzo in Piazza Maggiore, Bologna, where the Desmosedici GP20 was presented. Andrea Dovizioso and Danilo Petrucci unveiled the new bike, characterized by a red livery with black and chrome details.

Dovizioso ended 2019 in second position, for the third year in a row, setting his own personal scoring record, and confirming himself as the fastest rider on the track, behind Marquez.

For Petrucci, however, this first season as an official driver was positive in the first part, while he encountered several difficulties in the second. The rider from Terni was, however, confirmed by the upper levels of the Borgo Panigale company and will have another year available to demonstrate his talent and ability to ride the official Ducati.

“We have already put an end to 2019, the year in which for the third consecutive time we reconfirmed ourselves second in the championship with Andrea, who achieved nine podiums and two incredible victories, while Danilo gave us an exciting victory at Mugello, a GP that we won in the last three years.

However, we cannot be completely satisfied because our final objective must always be only one: aiming for the world title.

2020 will be an intense and demanding year, also because the calendar includes twenty races and our opponents will certainly be very competitive, and therefore we will all have to work even harder: for this reason we worked hard during the winter to be able to offer Andrea and Danilo a Desmosedici GP20 that allows them to be protagonists in every race and in any conditions."

“Racing is and will remain a fundamental part of our company, even in a particularly complex historical moment in which technology is radically changing the world around us. To be successful in this situation it is essential to continue investing in research and development and Racing is a very important part of our commitment to this.

If we add the R&D for production motorcycles, that for racing and the equipment to produce new models, global R&D for Ducati is worth over 10% of turnover. This is racing for Ducati: an advanced technological incubator, a showcase for Italian ingenuity and technology, and an incredible element of passion for all Ducatisti.

I would therefore like to thank all our partners and sponsors and wish the best of luck to Andrea, Danilo, Gigi and the whole team, wishing us all a highly competitive and satisfying season."
