In the first 2 articles of this series we saw how Crypto and NFT themed sponsorships have quickly become a consolidated reality within the main world and US 4-wheel championships. Let us now try to understand how this type of collaboration is developing in the motorcycle sector.

By nature, MotoGP and WSBK enjoy a smaller catchment area than Formula 1 and consequently advertising investments are not comparable. Although there are overlaps (energy drinks, lubricants, technology), the product areas involved tend to appear different. The financial sector, which has been permanently included in the automotive "basket" for decades, is less present in the two-wheeler sector.

It follows that contemporary economic dynamics and the "dematerialisation" of money also find fewer opportunities to trigger collaborations. However, this does not mean that these championships cannot be an excellent showcase and incubation space for fruitful partnerships. It is no coincidence that MotoGP is the first motorsport series to have released its own club tokens last year. This is by virtue of the three-year agreement reached with the Turkish brand Bitter valid from 2021 to 2023.

This partnership includes the visual presence of the brand on the billboards around the circuit as well as the titling of some races. The first diffusion of the MotoGP Fan Tokens took place between 13 and 31 August 2021, starting from the Austrian Grand Prix named after Bitci. The offer included 25 million tokens at €0,30 each, purchasable exclusively using the Bitcicoin currency.

Among the companies that directly support Dorna we find Animoca Brands, now a long-term partner considered the standards of this very recent trend. In fact, since 2019 it has held the rights to develop NFTs associated with the world championship. Together they carry out Motogp Ignition, a management and digital collecting gaming platform based on MotoGP: in practice, participants can purchase limited content with different rarity values and use them in a fantasy card game. At the basis of everything there is always a blockchain that allows you to ensure the value and non-replicability of the products. Furthermore, during the current and next season Animoca is the sponsor of 2+2 races, in this case Aragon and Philip Island.

Linked to this operation is the title sponsorship of 2 other races, the recently concluded edition of the Misano Grand Prix and that of next year. In this case, however, the brand involved is Gryfyn: it is a collaboration between Animoca Brands itself and Hex Trust aimed at defining wallets for digital assets - in this case NFTs - and for financial services. This platform is also dedicated to expanding into the Metaverse and within Web3 so as to exponentially expand the possibilities of use, connection and interaction between users.

Remaining in event sponsorships the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix has enjoyed the partnership with CryptoDATA Tech, a Romanian company that offers advanced digital security products and services thanks to blockchain and cryptography-based technologies. In particular, the result of this research is the Xiden blockchain which exploits a decentralized mining system through the creation of a network between all users. This approach allows the consumption of resources to be distributed more equitably and sustainably and has led to the creation of an artificial intelligence ecosystem called Edain through which to develop analysis software. The presence in the MotoGP stage also extended to the direct sponsorship of one of the most prominent talents on the grid, the Spaniard Jorge Martin.

Other companies have preferred to tie themselves directly to the teams or drivers. Certainly among the first Fantom, which entered into a partnership first with Team Petronas SRT in 2021 and then became a sponsor of World Champion Fabio Quartararo in the current season. Currently the logo can be easily spotted on the visor of the reigning World Champion.

Along the same lines we can find Kyrrex, officially linked this year to the Pramac team and its two riders. The logos are clearly visible on the sides of the large central intake vent of Martin and Zarco's Desmosedici GP. The company based in the Caribbean is structured as a bank where you can deposit and exchange cryptocurrencies as well as being able to carry out financial operations and payments. It also has its own token, the KRRX, which allows access to more advanced functions and reserved conditions. In addition to the second Ducati team, Kyrrex supports KTM in rally raids such as the Paris-Dakar and is the personal sponsor of Pedro Acosta in his adventure in Moto2.

VR46 is also at the center of an interesting operation that has to do with NFTs and Metaverse. In fact, in the recent Misano round, he presented and showed off on his bikes - both in MotoGP and Moto2 - a unique livery resulting from a collaboration with one of the most popular artists in this sector, mad dog jones.
the initiative envisages that the hulls will be auctioned through none other than the prestigious Sotheby's auction house and that a series of NFTs with a limited and certified edition will be linked to them thanks to blockchain coding.

GPNFTS powered by Velas presents a completely new concept in the sports collecting sector and in particular in motors. Through the release of digital assets it effectively allows these disciplines to access the metaverse. GPNFTS is a recently launched marketplace for NFTs dedicated to the world of motorsports and created by MLSE Digital Labs, the digital and innovation department of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. The partnership between Velas, creator of one of the fastest and most energy-efficient blockchain platforms, and GPNFTS – the first vertical NFT marketplace in motorsport, has been active since November 2021. GPNFTS works in synergy with the Yamaha MotoGP team RNF to create NFTs and collectible products that are released regularly and can be purchased by fans. Their racing presence extends to Team Alpine in F1, Team Juncos Hollinger in IndyCar and Team Prema in both Formula 2 and WEC.

It's not just the premier class that garners the attention of operators in this sector. During the month of August, Team Snipers which races in Moto3 signed an agreement with chaînon, a platform that deals with the search for sponsors in the digital sector. The Basketball League and the Volleyball League have already become part of this company's marketplace which allows the establishment of synergies in a "dematerialized" way and also through payments in cryptocurrencies.

Finally, even if he is no longer active as a driver, Jorge Lorenzo is also the protagonist of a synergy with MADworld and Animoca Brands which involves the release of a series of NFTs that can be used in a dedicated virtual gaming environment. Joining this platform allows you to win exclusive prizes, giveaways and other rewards such as real and digital experiences with Jorge himself.
The whole thing could only be called "X-Fuera", from the legendary nickname Por Fuera of the champion from Mallorca.
